Detailed itinerary
Day 1Dehradun to Sankri
192 km drive / approx. 8 hours / base village
Drive from Dehradun to Sankri via Mussoorie, Damta, Naugaon, Purola, Mori and Naitwar. Settle into the homestay or camp on shared basis. The trek leader conducts the route briefing and preparation session.
Day 2Sankri to Juda Ka Talab
Approx. 4-5 hours / pine and maple forest
Begin the trek after breakfast and climb through pine and maple forest, passing the village trail near Saud. Reach Juda Ka Talab and camp close to the high-altitude lake.
Day 3Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp
Approx. 2-3 hours / oak forest / highland meadow
Walk through pine and oak forest into open highlands with views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. Reach Kedarkantha Base Camp and prepare for the summit attempt.
Day 4Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit and Juda Ka Talab
Summit day / steep ascent / panoramic views
Start early for the long, steep climb to Kedarkantha summit. Enjoy panoramic Himalayan views, then descend safely through Base Camp to Juda Ka Talab for the night.
Day 5Juda Ka Talab to Sankri and Dehradun
4 km descent / 3-4 hours trek / 7-8 hours drive
Descend around 4 km from Juda Ka Talab to Sankri. After completing the trek, drive back to Dehradun; arrival timing depends on road and weather conditions.
How to reach Kedarkantha
From Sankri
Sankri is the trek base and trailhead. Arrive a day before the trek for rest, acclimatisation and briefing.
